I. EVERY DAY I WILL OFFER MYSELF AFRESH TO THE LORD:
A. In Numbers 29:6 we are told that the priests were instructed to offer the
Lord a "daily burnt offering."
B. When I awake in the morning, this should be my first act; I should present
myself wholly to the Lord (Romans 12:1).
C. I should say to Him, "Lord, I give myself afresh to you for this day so that
You may live Your life in me. Take possession of my heart and control all my
loving; fill my mind and guide my thinking; motivate my will and direct my
choices."
II. EVERY DAY I WILL CALL UPON THE LORD IN PRAYER:
A. In Psalm 86:3 the Psalmist says, "I cry unto Thee daily
"
B. This should be my first act upon rising.
C. I should begin the day with God.
D. To spend time alone with Him involves sacrifice, and I must decide that I
will make my time alone with the Lord a priority matter.
E. If I achieve this objective I shall experience peace, poise and power though
each day, and my life will be a blessing to others.
III. EVERY DAY I WILL SEARCH AND FEED UPON THE WORD OF GOD:
A. In Acts 17:11 we read that the Bereans "searched the Scriptures daily."
B. It is a bad thing to start the day's work without breakfast, and it is an
equally bad thing to try to live the Christian life with insufficient
nourishment.
C. In Exodus 16:14-21 we read about God's provision of manna for His children,
and in verse 21 of this section of Scripture we read that the children of Israel
"gathered it every morning, every man according to his eating."
IV. EVERY DAY I WILL SEEK TO DIE TO SIN AND SELF:
A. In I Corinthians15:31 the apostle Paul wrote, "I die daily
every day I die."
B. But surely we, as Christians, want to live?
C. This is true, but the way to live is to die. (Luke 9:23-24; John 12:25; Romans 6:1)
D. This means attending a daily funeral service where I am the deceased.
E. I must be willing to be dead to pride, praise, flattery, envy, and resentment.
F. The extent to which Christ can live and reveal His life in me is exactly in
proportion to my willingness to die to myself. (John 3:30)
V. EVERY DAY I WILL SPEAK TO OTHERS OF MY LORD:
A. In Acts 5:42 we are told that this is exactly what Peter and John did, and it
is interesting to look at Acts 2:47 with this verse.
B. Opportunities for speaking of the Lord present themselves to us throughout
every day (Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:4).
C. If you have never done so, why not consecrate your conversation to the Lord.
(Psalm 50:23)
VI. EVERY DAY I WILL HELP SOMEONE ELSE WHO IS IN NEED:
A. In Hebrews 3:13 the apostle says "Exhort one another daily, while it is
called today."
B. The word "exhort" means "alongside" and there is a great ministry here in
which every Christian can engage.
C. It is the ministry of encouragement or support that we give to others when
they are in trouble or in any kind of need. (Matthew 25:31-46)
VII. EVERY DAY I WILL LIVE AND WORK IN THE LIGHT OF THE SAVIOR'S COMING AGAIN:
A. In Proverbs 8:34 we read, "Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily
at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors."
B. Here is the idea of vigilance, of being on the watch.
C. But we see another application of Proverbs 8:34 in Hebrews 9:28.
D. Maybe the Lord will return today, and if I remember this fact I shall surely
want to live carefully and prayerfully in the light of His return. James 5:8
VIII. WHY I AS A CHRISTIAN MUST BE COMITTED:
A. I Thessalonians 1:1-10 Personal commitment is needed now more than every as
we face the coming year.
B. Will you make these statements of commitment?
IX BECAUSE I HAVE TAKEN GOD THE FATHER TO BE MY GOD. I Thessalonians 1:9
A. Commitment and dedication begins with the understanding of God.
B. Paul points out the personal commitment the Thessalonians made.
X. BECAUSE I HAVE TAKEN GOD THE SON TO BE MY SAVIOR. Acts 5:31
A. Our salvation and commitment is focused on Jesus, God's Son.
B. God loved the world so that we might be saved. John 3:16
XI. BECAUSE I HAVE TAKEN GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT TO BE MY SANCTIFIER. I Peter 1:2
A. The Holy Spirit is the third part of the Godhead.
B. Sanctification is a life-long process, not a one-time act.
XII. BECAUSE I HAVE TAKEN THE WORD OF GOD TO BE MY RULE. II Timothy 3:16-17
A. The true commitment of the Christian must be to God's Word!
B. Our commitment to God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit, is founded on Holy
Scripture and the Bible then becomes our daily guide.
XIII. BECAUSE I HAVE TAKEN THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO BE MY PEOPLE. Ruth 1:16-17
A. Our commitment to God means that we need to be committed to his people.
B. This was the principle that Ruth expressed in the Old Testament.
XIV. BECAUSE I HAVE DEDICATED MY WHOLE SELF TO THE LORD. Romans 14:7-8
A. True commitment to God makes us want to give our whole being to Him.
B. Our prayer should be that we give Him our whole self. Romans 12:1-2
